50 is the age to ask the big question. The big question to me is: what will we centenarians look like? (I plan to be one of them.) Will our minds be intact? Will we be able to care for ourselves? Will we be happy to be in this elite group or will every day be a slog?

To achieve lifelong wellness, we need to understand our personal story and accept ourselves fully. We need to overcome the social markers of success and learn what personal success means for us. Weight is really secondary, or a distraction, to the real issue. The real issue is learning to love yourself fully. To shut down the inner critic. To stop people pleasing. To slow down and put yourself first. When you do that, everyone wins.

This raises the risk of health problems including obesity, diabetes, and heart disease, to name a few. Additionally, irritability, difficulty concentrating and memory issues arise when one is chronically deprived of sleep.
