Sunny days gave been few and far between here in the Greater Boston area, but they are sure to make an appearance before long.
With my light skin and blonde hair I am susceptible to sunburn - I only wish the feel of the sun’s warmth, and the blue sky that accompanies it, wasn’t so appealing, but it is.
When I was a young girl, my Dad would comment on how pale I looked in the winter months. Come summer, a day at the beach with my friends would lead to a face as red as a lobster and sunburn over all exposed areas. Without understanding sun could be harmful, my Dad would smile and say “oh, Peggy, you look soo healthy!” And somehow I felt that red glow was a good look, despite the pain and peeling that followed.
Now that I’m older and hopefully a little wiser, one of my favorite resources for healthy product research is the Environmental Working Group (ewg.org). They recently announced their preferred sunscreen list, identifying the products that are both safe and effective. I hope you’ll check it out and with sun protection from a wide brimmed hat, safe sunscreen and limited exposure to direct sun you’ll never look like a lobster.
