Would You Cut Your Own Hair?

I’m guessing not many of you would answer yes to that question.  It leads me to another question - Do you think you can manage your nutrition and overall well-being without any support?  If everyone thinks we can, why do we have so many people with weight issues, gut inflammation, headaches, low energy, depressed or anxious moods and a feeling of constant hunger?

With all the misinformation out there about weight loss and other health related issues, it’s very difficult to know what to do, especially if you feel hungry most of the time. It’s easy to get into the mindset of paying little or no attention to your health and/or weight until things start to go wrong.  When that happens, a common response is to go on a strict diet until the weight falls off, and then resuming the habits and patterns that caused the weight gain or health symptoms in the first place.  In my experience, hunger often is the result of eating highly processed foods that contain appetite-triggering chemicals.

It’s only when you give up the idea of dieting and instead begin to notice how you feel when you eat high nutrient/low calorie foods that you figure it out. Quality food is satisfying, and unless you habitually eat too much, your weight will stabilize, your symptoms will subside and you will feel better.

But this isn’t easy to do on your own, any more than cutting your own hair would be. You need tools that really work and are sustainable. You need to rediscover the pleasure of food so it no longer feels like the enemy.  That doesn’t happen when you grab a power bar and think that will be a ‘good’ choice.  And you need compassionate support to help you figure out what causes you to go off the rails so you can get back on them with new insights.

Change Is Not Easy

As humans, even when we want to make a change, it is never easy.  Busy lives get in the way, self-criticism gremlins tell you it’s impossible, or you ignore your well-being until something happens. But also as humans, you have enormous strength when you set your mind to it.  That’s when change happens.

Building Blocks for Change

It’s all based on simple foods - no need to be a gourmet, just a simple cook who wants to feel and look better.

With 6 Weeks you have a weekly support call with me to reinforce what you are doing and to help you through the bumps in the road. You get to keep all the materials for your own records.
