Lower Blood sugar in 10 minutes
Two reasons why it’s best not to linger at the table after dinner
you are much less likely to have second helpings
most importantly, your body likes to move after eating.
Let’s look at #1.
Food has many qualities. Hunger is just one of them. When you linger at the table, you’re looking at the food - its colors, aromas, and the experience of just tasting it. You may not still be hungry, but because it’s there, it is easy to move more onto your plate.
And #2 - the blood sugar factor - this is really important
Type II diabetes is at epidemic levels in the US, as predicted. This one little hack can make a great difference in your blood sugar levels if you make a habit of it.
Get up!
Glucose is your primary source of energy. After a meal, blood glucose levels rise. Muscles are major consumers of this glucose and that’s where you want glucose to go. A 10 minute walk right after dinner can absorb this glucose. You want the glucose that initially goes to your blood to go to your muscles, and movement will activate insulin which will send the glucose to your muscles for energy.
You’ll not only be making good use of the glucose you got from your meal, but this uptick to your muscles will energize you. You’ll have enough energy to enjoy the evening and get a good night’s sleep. No more nodding off after dinner!
