Women and Inflammation

Inflammation is a big buzzword in medicine today. In essence, what it means is there is something going on that is irritating to the body.  Its cause may be food, unmanaged stress, injury or the environment.

Have you ever had the experience of feeling bloated, or had a headache, PMS or cramps, or noticed that your face is red, or your skin is dry?  These are all examples of inflammation.

Let's start with food as a possible cause.  Think about what you've been eating.  It may be perfectly good quality food, but you've eaten it for too long and too often, and your body is looking for something else.  Or it may be a food that you have a slight intolerance for, and your body is sending you a signal through one of the symptoms noted above. Or you may be eating foods that are highly processed and generally unhealthy, so your body is complaining.

You may find the answers when you carefully review what you've been doing. If you don't stop and give some time to uncover the cause, it will be all too easy to grab an Advil, or Prilosec, or some other remedy that will simply mask your symptoms, not cure them.

Bodies have a powerful way of sharing information when things aren't going so well. What has happened to you when you've listened to your body?
