Thanksgiving Thoughts On Eating
We all enjoy having a meal with family and friends, but sometimes it's hard not to eat too much, especially those rich foods, that are served on Thanksgiving. It’s clearly a day that’s all about food and giving thanks.
Here are a few tips to help you enjoy the experience without overdoing it.

1. Get some exercise before the Thanksgiving meal. Walk to your neighborhood football game or to the local park. This will bump up your metabolism and efficiently burn off some of your meal.

2. Have a nice (room temperature) glass of water with lemon or some apple cider about thirty minutes before your meal. This will help you digest your dinner and perhaps make you less hungry. Pitch in on food preparation and the smells and textures of the food will make you feel like you’re eating.

3. If the table has a traditional Thanksgiving meal, fill most of your plate with the vegetables that are offered (squash, beans, turnip etc)., and then add your turkey and a small amount of stuffing, cranberry sauce and potato. Pass on the rolls and gravy, delighting yourself that you’re saving room for your favorite desserts. Chew your food slowly and thoroughly.  Take your time, enjoying the conversation and time with loved ones, and give yourself some time before you choose your desserts. Choose one or two desserts that you really love, and take small portions. After you are ALL DONE eating, have a glass of water with lemon. It will alkalize your stomach and make your gall bladder happy.

4. Take a stroll either between dinner and dessert, or after dessert.  This will also help you digest and give you more time to chat others who choose to get moving. .

5. Be thankful. When you count your blessings instead of your troubles, life looks much brighter.
Enjoy!!
