Nutrition Counseling Success Story

I've been working with a Nutrition Counseling client for nearly six months now. When we met yesterday, I asked her what has changed since we began working together. Her answer: everything!
She thought I was joking several months ago when I told her that once her food falls into proper perspective, her ability to focus on other aspects of her life would as well. This gal, like me, had always craved sweets and couldn't imagine passing by the candy dish in her office without helping herself. But when she began to eat in a more balanced way, at regular intervals, everything changed. She feels better.  She no longer takes medication for acid reflux. She has lost weight. And most important, she does not feel deprived.  She has settled into an easy rhythm of eating that works for her.
How is nutritional counseling different and more successful than dieting? It is different because your whole self is considered in nutritional counseling. There is an emphasis on simple whole foods rather than fat grams and calories that you hear so much about in conventional dieting plans. We are all so much more than the sum total of calories! Nutritional counseling guides you to a lifestyle of eating that is comfortable and enjoyable for the rest of your life.  Imagine how much you can do with your time and energy if it is not spent on obsessing over calories and fat grams!
Learning to select and consume simple whole foods brings balance back to the appetite and to your energy level. From there it becomes easy.  Your body likes being in balance, and when it is, your thoughts about food become more balanced as well.
While initially it may feel daunting, it is possible for everyone to develop a healthy relationship with food.
